Stable Failure

I’ve started backing up every single post and every bit of data to a local hard drive. It’s not because I’m expecting the internet to crash—though that wouldn’t surprise me—it’s because I don’t trust the idea of ‘continuity’ anymore. We like to think the digital world is permanent, but it’s actually incredibly fragile. Stability can be misleading; it’s a thin veneer that can be stripped away in an instant. I want a physical record that I can hold in my hand. If the servers go dark or the blog is ‘pruned’ for public safety, I want to make sure the voices on this page don’t just vanish into the ether. I’m keeping the memory in a drawer.
