Quiet Records

I’ve officially stopped hoping that the system logs will explain themselves. They won’t. I’ve spent hours looking for a ‘why’ in the data, but it isn’t there. The logs are just going to sit there, cold and indifferent, quietly insisting that something happened while we were looking the other way. They are a record of an absence. I’ve realized that the machines don’t care about our need for closure or understanding. They just track the failures and the blackouts with the same clinical precision they use for everything else. We are the ones who have to find the meaning in the gaps, and I’m running out of ways to interpret the silence.
