Tightening

The road closure list was updated again this morning. They are still listed as ‘temporary,’ but the perimeter is inching outward, block by block. Whatever is at the centre of this—whatever they are trying to fix or contain—they clearly don’t want it spreading to the main arterial roads. It might be a massive Victorian sewer collapse, it might be a chemical leak, or it might just be the most inefficient roadworks project in the history of the North West. I’m done guessing. I’m just watching the orange cones move closer to my front door. It’s a slow-motion invasion of plastic and bureaucracy.
