Nothing Resolved

Whatever occurred last week—the disappearances, the sightings, the strange quiet—it hasn’t changed the underlying pattern of the system. If anything, the anomalies have been absorbed. That’s the true nature of modern systems; they are built to absorb shocks, normalize errors, and carry on as if nothing happened. They are resilient in a way that humans aren’t. People break, people go missing, and people grieve, but the grid keeps huming and the cameras keep their scheduled blackouts. We don’t get the same courtesy of being ‘absorbed.’ We just get left behind in the gaps the system creates.
