Another quiet one from my side of the hills. Those ‘temporary’ road closure signs I mentioned are still standing, looking a bit weathered now, but no less permanent. I spoke to a neighbour over the garden fence who reckons there was a private council meeting recently about ‘containment planning.’ It sounds incredibly dramatic, doesn’t it? Like something out of a Cold War thriller. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned about local government, it’s that they absolutely love using high-stakes, dramatic language for the most mundane things imaginable. ‘Containment’ probably just means they’re trying to figure out how to keep the sewage from overflowing or how to reroute traffic for a marathon. I’m choosing to laugh at the terminology rather than lose sleep over it. Stockport isn’t a disaster zone; it’s just a place with a lot of paperwork.
Outer Edges
They do, unfortunately.
