I was pulled aside today and told to prepare for ‘extended disruption.’ That was the exact phrase. No timeframe was given, no specific scenario was outlined, and no questions were answered. Just a vague, looming directive to be ‘prepared.’ What does that even mean in a town that’s already sealed off? Do I stock up on more canned soup, or do I start boarding up the ground floor? The language is designed to be just specific enough to keep us working, but too vague to allow us to make a real plan. It’s a placeholder for a future that no one wants to describe out loud.

That’s not vague by accident.
