System Acceptance

I received an email from the systems manager today. The camera outages are now officially classified as ‘accepted behaviour’ in the primary monitoring system. That is a phrase I never wanted to read. In technical terms, it means they’ve given up. They aren’t going to investigate the cause, they aren’t going to look for a fix, and they are telling us to stop reporting it. It means we have been instructed to accept a flaw as a reality. It’s a surrender disguised as a policy update. We are now working within a system that is intentionally blind, and we’ve been told that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be. I feel like I’m being asked to agree that 2+2=5 just to keep my job.
