Escalation Without Alarm

We are currently escalating our medical and security procedures without escalating the language we use to describe them. It’s a very deliberate, calculated choice from management. They’re introducing biohazard protocols, reinforced door locks, and ‘environmental containment’ zones, but they still talk about it in the same dry, administrative tone they’d use for a new parking policy. Someone at the top clearly thinks that panic is a bigger risk than the actual threat. They believe that as long as they keep the words boring, we won’t realize we’re in the middle of a catastrophe. But you can only call a lockdown a ‘logistical adjustment’ for so long before the staff starts noticing the bars on the windows.
